Juan Miró and Carlota Carmona Claim Victory at the 2024 Sergio García Junior Championship

 

Juan Miró, from Castellón and representing Mediterráneo Golf, and Catalonia’s Carlota Carmona have been crowned champions of the third edition of the Sergio García Junior Championship. This prestigious tournament, counting towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), is aimed at Under-18 players and took place from September 27th to 29th, 2024, at Mediterráneo Golf, Castellón, home to the Sergio Garcia Golf Academy.

The competition spanned three rounds of 18 holes each. Juan Miró battled to the very end to secure the title, carding scores of 72, 69, and 73 for a total of 214 strokes, narrowly edging out Marc Quintana by just one stroke. Francisco Gavilán and Matteo Sasdelli finished in third and fourth place with scores of 221 and 222, respectively.

At just 15 years old, Juan Miró not only achieved a prestigious victory but also earned an invitation to compete in the AJGA Championship, the renowned American Junior Golf Association tournament in the United States.

In the girls’ category, Carlota Carmona improved throughout the tournament. With rounds of 74, 72, and 70, she posted a total of 216 strokes, comfortably ahead of Daniela Montolio, who finished second with 221. Xinyi Gu and Carlota López tied for third place, each with a score of 222.

All participants can undoubtedly express their gratitude to Sergio García and the Sergio Garcia Golf Academy for fostering the dreams of the next generation of golfers through this championship.
